“What are the Details of YAMF ?”

YAMF offers a summer music learning environment in a variety of genres, instruments for all skill levels. The Young Artists Music Festival is a 8 day music intensive where students have the opportunity to perform in chamber music, a wide range of large ensembles, and the musical elective of your choice.

When you come to YAMF this summer, you will:

Practice and perform in beautiful facility and venues

Work with incredible faculty, guest artists, and conductors

Forge friendships with students not only around the Houston area but also around the world

Grow your skills and talents as a young musician

Perform and attend in multiple performances by students and faculty members throughout the festival.

Elective Classes

All-State Etude Class

Get a great start on working on the all-state etudes. Our professional coaches will guide you on building a great foundation to be successful on these challenging etudes for your audition

Audition Strategies

Our highly attended Audition strategies elective has helped many students obtain methods and tools to be successful at region and state-level auditions, as well as college auditions and later bring these methods in auditions for major orchestral auditions.  Students gain knowledge on how to control breathing techniques to help control nerves, learn about confidence through body language, mock auditions, as well as creating a successful timeline. 

Leadership and Conducting

This special elective helps students gain knowledge of being effective leader in the ensemble community. Students learn these skills through the eyes of becoming the conductor. Students get the opportunity to learn the foundation of being the conductor . Students will have the opportunity to make their debut as a conductor
